A catalog design using my own original photography, created for DAENA, a Swiss-based scent marketing company.
With this catalogue design, my goal was to bring scent alive through a visual experience. Using my own original photography, I wanted to communicate what DAENA represents: beautiful aromas carefully crafted. The layout utilizes white space to draw the readers attention to the imagery, inviting them to imagine how specific scent combinations might smell. This catalogue emphasizes simplicity, minimalism, and functionality. Its design intends to get information out clearly, and precisely through the use of minimal, sans serif typography.
DAENA is a scent marketing company specializing in olfactory branding, creating tailored scent experiences to enhance brand identity and customer engagement.

DAENA wanted to communicate their identity through a refined and sophisticated brochure. The challenge was to translate an invisible product, like scent, into a visual and tactile experience.
➝ Visually express DAENAs brand essence through editorial design
➝ Use photography and layout to convey scent-based storytelling
➝ Create a print piece that reflects simplicity, sophistication, and clarity
I was responsible for concept development, photography, layout, and typography. I approached the project through hands-on, self-directed experimentation.
“Scented environments have been shown to reduce typos made by office workers; improve the perception of product quality; increase purchase intent, average unit sales, and duration of a retail visit or stay among consumers; and boost the willingness of consumers to pay more for a product.”
VISUAL STRATEGY & MOODBOARDING ➝ After the research phase, I created a moodboard focused on natural textures, neutral palettes, and high-end minimalism to reflect DAENA’s luxury identity. This set the tone for both the photography and layout.
PHOTOGRAPHY DIRECTION ➝ I used original photography to create flatlays that feature florals, citrus, spices, and organic textures. The compositions are vivid and designed to make you almost smell the scent through the pages. The images contrast the minimalist layout and typography, playing up the sensory experience while still keeping the overall design clean.
LAYOUT & TYPOGRAPHY ➝ The layout uses intentional white space to spotlight the imagery, guiding the reader’s eye and allowing the scent visuals to metaphorically breathe. I paired the clients chosen typeface, Kievit Pro, with open space and a clean grid to enhance clarity and calm.
